Albert Hammond Jr. Recording Sophomore Effort

I guess we shouldn't expect a new Strokes album until late '08, at the earliest. Here's more via NME: *Albert Hammond, Jr. is gearing up to record his second album, news that further confirms The Strokes indefinite hiatus. The Strokes guitarist-turned-solo-star has scheduled five weeks at Electric Lady studios in New York to record the follow-up to 'Yours To Keep'. Hammond has previewed several new tracks at recent live shows including 'In My Room' and an as-yet untitled track. In a message posted on Myspace, Hammond promised that some of the recording will be filmed and shown on his MySpace page.*

The Strokes Need Their Beauty Rest

The Strokes are taking some time off and will not release anything before 2008.

Here's more via their MySpace blog entry:

"The band are still enjoying some much needed 'off time'. I wouldn't expect anything to come out this year. In the meantime, they are staying busy pursuing some other personal interests and are busy working/writing/rehearsing and all those things bands do in between albums. But, there are no immediate plans to release an album or tour for the time being."
