The Police's Reunion Tour Lifts Its Head, Again

Milk it, Sting! Billboard reports: *The Police will take one more victory lap through North America on their massively successful reunion tour before calling it quits for good, sources close to the tour tell Billboard. The Police - Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland - will play another 30-odd dates in May and July in North America, with 15 previously announced European concerts sandwiched between in June. Elvis Costello & The Imposters will open the entire run of North American dates, which wraps the first week in August.* All dates will be revealed shortly.

Blind Melon Preps New LP, First In Thirteen Years

Believe it! Billboard reports: *The recently reborn Blind Melon will release its first studio album in 13 years this spring. For My Friends is due 4/22 via Adrenaline and introduces new singer Travis Warren as a replacement for late frontman Shannon Hoon, who died in 1995. Warren joins original members Rogers Stevens (guitar), Christopher Thorn (guitar), Brad Smith (bass) & Glen Graham (drums). "This record's a great rock record. It's kind of like Soup - the more you listen to it, the more it grows on you."*

Police Reunion Tour Grosses 100 Mill In 2 Months

Billboard has more: *The first leg of the Police reunion tour has been an overwhelming success, grossing $107,592,002 from 38 shows that drew 929,941 people. That does not include stops at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn., in June, or the V Fest in Baltimore last weekend.

The highest gross of the first leg was July 5-6 at Wrigley Field in Chicago, which took in $9,494,248 from an attendance of 79,458. The Police start up again Aug. 28 in Stockholm and play Europe through Oct. 20. The band returns to North America Halloween night for a sellout at Madison Square Garden in New York, will play three more weeks in the U.S. and then head to Latin America.*

Tickets to all forthcoming shows are sold out.
