Bjork Tune Covered By Ugandan Children For Benefit LP

Official word is as follows: *Bjork's song "All Is Full Of Love" is covered by Ugandan children and youths on an album by a organization called Bitone (meaning "talent"). Their mission is to restore the lives and hopes of children between 8 and 18 years old in Uganda, whom have been traumatized by the death of their parents or loss of their home due to disease, war, or economic hardship. The program was founded by Branco Sekalegga and Hassan Kayemba with the vision of "Restoring Hope By Nurturing The Body And Spirit". Bitone youth are provided with basic food and shelter, a nurturing environment, an academic education, and counseling. Through learning traditional African music, dance, folklore and theater, the children build self esteem, become self reliant and contribute to creating a peaceful future for the next generations of Ugandans and others worldwide. The record was recorded with a laptop and one microphone in the center's living room.*

Bjork shares the following statement with Morgunbladid newspaper: *“Sigur Ros & I are neither environmental experts nor politicians, but we travel around the world a lot and we have seen how far behind Iceland is in conserving our environment. Morrissey Sponsors Rock Against Racism Gig

Here's the official word: *Morrissey has personally stepped in with a significant financial contribution to the Love Music Hate Racism campaign in order to allow their 30th Anniversary Rock Against Racism concert to go ahead in Victoria Park, London this weekend without financial loss or burden to the charity. In addition to his own contribution he has rallied his management, booking agency and promoters to make up the majority of the £75,000 deficit LMHR was faced with after their main sponsor pulled out. Morrissey commented, "This is a historic event spreading an important, anti racist message so it must be allowed to go ahead. LMHR got in touch and explained that the NME had pulled its support, possibly as a result of their association with me, and asked if I could help as they had not been able to replace them. This is something I'm committed to & we appreciate everyone coming together so quickly to make it happen."*
