2000 people or so roughed it out and enjoyed a stellar Walkmen set in the pouring rain down at The Park.
The band ran though their entire catalog, focusing on the new album, A Hundred Miles Off ('Lost In Boston' and 'Tenleytown' sounded flawless!), but ultimately ended the set with an encore of Bows+Arrows-fave 'Thinking Of A Dream I Had'. Hamilton was in full-scream form and the crowd (which was at least 80% male) was eating out of his palm.
For 'Louisiana', the band brought 2 trumpet players to complete the sound. Quite the treat... and it was easily was one of the most well-received songs of the afternoon. Other highlights include a rip-roaring 'Wake Up' and yes, after nearly 3 years, 'The Rat' still sounds as fresh as it ever has. I should also point out that '138th Street' was also ridiculously good.
On my way out, I found this lovely poster commemorating the show and pimpin' the afterparty at Union Hall. More photos and another full review over at PTST.
