In 2004, the Archdiocese of New York closed the historic St. Brigid's Church on E. 9th and Avenue B, and attempted to demolish the building in the name of profit.

This past summer, we won a temporary restraining order against the demolition permit. But the clock is ticking......

Join us Sunday, Nov. 5th, 2006 from 6-9 p.m. at Solas
(232 E. 9th Street, btw. 2nd and 3rd Aves.)
for an evening of music, performance and prizes and help landmark this cultural and historic jewel of the East Village!

St. Brigid's cornerstone was laid on Sept. 10th, 1848 and is known as the "Famine Irish" church for its importance to the City's Irish Immigrants of the time. St. Brigid's is an important and historic architectural monument to the immigrant history of the Lower East Side, and has served numerous immigrant communities over the last 150 years.
