Excuse me?
I can't tell if this is going to be awesome or a total disaster. Either way, I'd still love to hear it!
Arctic Monkeys have been re-recorded by musicians from latin music pioneers the Buena Vista Social Club. A reinterpretation of 'Dancing Shoes' appears on the new Buena Vista Social Club album 'Rhythms Del Mundo'. The track, which features Alex Turner's vocals with new backing, is one of the first times the band have licensed one of their songs for use on a compilation album.
Arranged by Demitrio Muniz, the interpretations on the album keep the original orchestration from each song, along with the majority of the original vocals, and then layer new flourishes over the top of the original tracks. "Arctic Monkeys are crazy," Muniz told NME.COM. "They're just so cool, smooth, danceable and joy-provoking."
The album, which is released on November 13, also features the Havana-based collective adding to 'Modern Way' by Kaiser Chiefs, 'The Dark Of The Matinee' by Franz Ferdinand, 'Clocks' by Coldplay and 'High & Dry' by Radiohead among others.
