Ahh, the secret tune. The LAST last song of the album. The thought of including a hidden track was a no-brainer back in the mid/late 90s, even into the early part of this decade. Travis, Remy Zero, Coldplay, Radiohead, everybody had one.
Looking over my favorite releases of '06, nearly a decade after this phenomena began, I noticed very few actually include any sort of bonus track to end the album.
In fact, other than Joan As Police Woman's Real Life, I can't even come up with another LP off the top of my head that ended with a secret song. (Woops! No secret track on
Real Life, I've lost my mind!)
What are our thoughts on this? Anybody missing the added song(s) or is it good riddance to bonus tracks for good? Has the popularity of iTunes had any effect on the hidden track? Speak!
