As the story goes, Sigur Ros took a week-long trip to the African nation of Swaziland this past September, in hopes of learning more about the HIV/AIDS crisis and giving a little bit of themselves to the cause to end it.
During their time in Africa, the guys visited orphanages, played with the surprisingly jubilant children and spoke with locals about the situation/trends within the country.
Jonsi (frontman) explains more - "the purpose of our visit was mainly so that Icelanders could see other Icelanders in these conditions, to bring this reality a little closer." Furthermore, the guys have just started a fundraiser in their home country to bring awareness and various kinds of support to the region. Read the entire recap at (un) official (fan) site, 18 Seconds To Sunrise.
By the way, how adorable is the attached photo of Jonsi and the kiddies?
