Did anybody else watch Studio 60 last night and catch the reason why the fake skit show had to feature a relatively unknown musical guest that week? It was because The White Stripes cancelled for the third time. That gave me a chuckle.
The ratings phenom (as in phenomenally bad unfortunately because I love it, but then again all of my favourite tv shows are perpetually cancelled) featured flash backs to when Matthew Perry's character first started working on the show. To transition the viewer, Sorkin unimaginatively, but oh so humourously, begins each past event with a 90's song. Last night we heard Eagle Eye Cherry and Smashmouth's 'All Star' and were threatened with musical guest N*SYNC.
The show is going on hiatus starting March 5th to make way for The Black Donnellys and critics predict, it is never to return. Maybe if The White Stripes actually made an appearance, it would help with a last ditch effort to save one of the more intelligent programs on television. In case you didn't know, Studio 60 airs Monday nights at 10pm on NBC and is well worth watching.
