This is out of control!
Within the past 12 months we've seen a rap tribute, a reggae covers compilation, the 'lullabye' verions and now, we have the jazz-inspired Radiohead project. This time, a relative newcomer named Eliza Lumley has tacked ten Radiohead tracks in her own unique fashion.
Included in her interpretations are 'Black Star', 'How To Disappear Completely' and 'Street Spirit' amongst other earlier Radiohead tracks (from The Bends to Kid A). As a blatant reference to OK Computer's 'Karma Police', her LP, She Talks In Maths, has been heralded by Time Out as a 'serious' and 'compelling' piece of work. You be the judge. Check out some covers over at her MySpace page at the bottom of this post.
In Eliza's own words: "It was a bit scary, because Radiohead are so popular. They're so cool and 'cred' in that sense, so it was a bit of a sacred cow to go into their work. I found amazing, amazing stuff".
