Craving an onilne community dedicated to all things Antony? Well, you're in luck!Just One Star has been kicking around for close to a year now but as of the last few months, it's truly become THEE place for all things Antony & The Johnsons. Antony, himself, has even taken heed and recently wrote a sweet letter to the forum posters, just before his BAM gig last week (my review of that show here).
The message starts kindly enough with a blurb asking the community to contact his manager regarding which songs he should consider covering (I surely hope someone takes responsibility for his Beyonce recreation with The Brooklyn Philharmonic, as it was amazing!), and apologizes for his demeanor following the gigs stating 'I get horribly introverted and it is often hard for me to face the crowd after a performance'.
However, the most shocking part of his note would have to be his stance regarding bootleggers. "I have one favor to ask you. Please stop recording my concerts and trading them, it makes me feel terrible. I feel like the thing i have to offer an audience is the live experience. But for them to record my concerts sort of feel like I am being stolen from. It's kind of like inviting people over for dinner and before they leave they go into your fridge and clear you out, take everything you have, on their way out the door. This year I was hoping to develop ideas for the new album and some live concerts, but at this rate I am feeling discouraged because of the bootlegging. So do me a favor and starting at BAM please be my fan and my friend and don't record my shows."
Nice analogy, Mr. Hegarty. I completely understand his point but I have to say it... yikes, don't mess with Antony! He means business. Read his entire post HERE!
