It seems as if Dave Gahan, long-time frontman of Depeche Mode, will be opening up a restaurant in the East Village this spring. Named Bitter Apple (after a track off of his solo effort from a few years back, Paper Monsters), the establishment will open on June 7th and feature DJ sets by fellow Depechers Martin Gore & Andrew Fletcher on its inaugural evening.
Of the idea, Dave says: "I've always wanted to open up a restaurant, but with obligations to Depeche, as well as my solo career, I never had the time. Now is the time."
The restaurant's official site also claims: Taking over the restaurant site formerly known as Poetessa, the bitter apple promises to be one of the cooler restaurants in the NYC area. With a small sound stage in the back of the restaurant, owner Dave Gahan promises to "have the joint rocking".
For location, menu (including Depeche Mode themed dish titles, oh my) and to join Bitter Apple's MySpace take a swing over here.
I'll take the 'Enjoy The Soup' please. Ha!
