Sometimes, like now when I am sitting in a dark bar on Orchard, nursing a half price beer, looking out onto the street as 20somethings pass in skinny jeans and knee high boots, I imagine my life to be a movie. A perfectly grungy, horribly tragic, absurdly happy New York movie. A movie where I fall perilously in love, totter around in too high heels and fall drunkenly down the stairs at any, all Lower East Side venues.
The entire film would of course be soundtracked by a friend’s struggling band- the band I go see at 3am on a Tuesday, the band I poster lamp posts for. Right now, that band is Man in Gray. With a big haired, big hearted guitar player and a sexy cupcake making lead singer, Man in Gray scream through my life as the camera pans to me running down Rivington, pulling a lover into a dark doorway and crying out into the night.
Find your own soundtrack, or steal mine- go on, I don't mind.
April 24th, 7:30pm, Man in Gray will open for Pela at Mercury Lounge (sold out).
Go Tuesday May 22nd at 7 PM to The Delancey (168 Delancey St. , New York, NY) for the listening party of Man in Gray's new, and wonderfully titled, I Can't Sleep Unless I Hear You Breathing.
MP3: 'Sleeping' (more on their site)
