Patrick Wolf - On Sussex Downs'On Sussex Downs' is a Larrikin Love cover that Patrick Wolf has been performing live for the past few months. Larrikin Love, for those unfamiliar, is a relatlively new four-piece from London, often compared to The Clash, that regularly combines 'punk, reggae, calypso & bluegrass' (thanks Wiki). 'On Sussex Downs' is featured on Larrikin Love's debut LP, The Freedom Spark, released in the fall of last year.
While the original tune - which by the way has not been released as a single - has a Coral/Mystery Jets-esque vibe to it (check out the track here on the band's official site), Patrick's take on the tune is much more melancholic. His version of 'On Sussex Downs' is enveloped with strings and keys, and definitely takes on an Antony-like vibe - not only in the instumentation, but in the way Patrick plays with his vocal during the track.
