As we first reported last week, TMS fave (and native New Yorker), Nellie McKay is back! Her new album, Obligatory Villagers, will officially drop on September 25th and our anticipation is sky high. This week she shares a few interesting tidbits on the LP with Bitchfork. Here are some highlights:
On recording the album in Pennsylvania's Poconos: "It's kind of a homecoming. I mean, if you want to find a good person in the world, the Poconos are a good place to start."
On the album's seemingly short length (just nine songs) compared to her debut and sophomore efforts - both double albums: "It just kind of ended up that way... We always aim for less than thirty songs."
On future plans: "I really don't like touring very much... I think we'll just start working on the next album, you know? Just try to put one foot in front of the other."
Can't wait! Check out the full track listing for Obligatory Villagers below.
