After picking up my badge at the Puck Building sometime in the late afternoon on Tuesday, I suddenly found myself half drunk and sweaty at the Indaba Lounge. During CMJ, Indaba put on a series of mostly day events curated by Rachael of Underrated Magazine and Seth of This Side Up Sounds.
I liked Cut Off Your Hands, didn't love em. They reminded me a bit of The Automatic. Their set was short and moody after sound problems prolonged their start time. Some Velvet Morning were rather forgettable while Matt Singer and his humourous songs were an enjoyable ending.
My day ended with Brooklyn Vegan's showcase at Bowery. I caught The Most Serene Republic who were intense and amazing. Reminded me a lot of White Rabbits. Next was Dean and Britta who were pretty but dull. Last band I saw before before I thought I would pass out was The Rosebuds who just rocked my world. Amazing. Dancy, fun, happy and sweet. I snuck out the door to leave before Voxtrot but was caught by fellow ATJer Jed who convinced me to walk around and hand out After the Jump's CMJ postcards. I hate fliering...
