I'll leave the explaining to Mr. LCD and this afternoon's MySpace bulletin: *so i have to apologize and explain about the corona festival in mexico on dec 1st. we were confirmed to do this gig, and when we were traveling back from brazil we got a call from the promoter that the festival was cancelled. all of our equipment was about to leave brazil, and we had booked our flights for everyone (difficult, as we all live in different places), so a mad dash was made to re-route everything.i cancelled all the flights from new york, and our tour manager amos and mix engineer cancelled the other flights and stopped the gear--this was done from the airport as we were changing planes. then back in nyc. a lot of crazy work, cancellation fees, kill fees, contacting the crew and band to let them know they could take the other work they'd turned down etc. etc. 2 days after THAT we were contacted by the festival promoters that the festival was back on. but our gear, half our crew, and 2 band members were now not available. it's a pretty insane situation, but it's what it is. i have to say, nothing like this has ever happened to us... we've had shows go funny, but not festivals (well, that's not true--we had 2 festivals in france cancelled day-of due to strikes, but they weren't "back on" afterwards). it's a terrible situation. we were really looking forward to playing in mexico. some of us had apartments booked to come and stay for the week and really get to know the city a bit more. we were ready. but there's nothing we can do now, and we're very sorry. we will come again someday, and hopefully make a lot of friends.
