We know that After the Jump Fest this year has been filled with so much awesome (36 acts on 4 stages, hello), that you might be a little baffled on how to go about cramming in all the goodness. Well don't be a fool, we want to see you there! When else are you going to have a chance to dance and sing and get a little crazy on the closed off streets of downtown Williamsburg with the most amazing indie rock bands from all over the country playing for you for FREE? Not until next year, that's when.
So here's the scoop. After the Jump Fest has shut down N. 6th St between Kent and Wythe Ave, right in front of The Music Hall of Williamsburg and Galapagos Art Space. Outside, there will be a big stage sponsored by Metromix.com (sorry, had to throw that in there) housing bands like The Forms, Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears and PELA. This street stage is switching off times with the stage inside The Music Hall where Chairlift, Power Douglas, Ponytail and 5 other noisy motherf*ckers will be tearing it up. THEN, there is the madness going on inside Galapagos where 2 more stages, with the likes of Extra Life, Autodrone, Fiasco, Bell, The Bloodsugars, etc, are switching off set times.
I know, I know, amazing. And unlike some other ::coughLAMERcough:: Summer music festivals, it's effing FREE. This all starts at NOON by the way. The crack of high NOON. At noon there will be a very special performance by ATJ/Stereofame contest winners Evil BBC, who are coming all the way from CA for the show.
Ok, so you get it, 4 stages, bands out the wazoo, outdoor fun on the first day of Summer, but now here's where it really kicks off. Right after Pela leaves the outdoor stage, the night benefit show begins inside The Music Hall with Mixel Pixel, Pattern is Movement, Titus Andronicus and a, flown in especially for this, performance by HEALTH. Project Jenny, Project Jan will then kick off some late night dance partying and DJ XXXchange will keep it going all night long. You get all that for a measly tenner (which goes to raise money for the next generation of indie rock stars to come out of NYC).
Here's what people are already saying:
“…because one stage simply cannot hold all the hipness that will ensue” – CMJ
“One of the more exciting giant bills in the pipeline right now anywhere” – Impose Mag
“The 2nd annual ATJ Music Fest comes roaring into Williamsburg on June 21st, and we plan to be rocking out for the entire sweaty thing. With 3 stages, more bands than we can keep tabs on and a jam packed schedule that goes from high noon until the last hand clapping hipster falls, it promises to be great people watching & even better listening.” – Gen Art
Metromix.com, your online guide for arts and entertainment in New York, will be kicking it all day long at After the Jump Fest 2008, with their very own Street Stage right in the middle of N. 6th st. in downtown Williamsburg. They will also be there taking pictures of the fabulous crowd to post in a special photo gallery.
Make sure and come out to see Pela, Ponytail, Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears, The Forms and over 30 more free bands starting at Noon!
