New Battles Album Cover: Love It Or Hate It?
No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get enough of this new Battles record (as evident by my last post on the band, here). Battles Bring Math Rock To The Masses
It seems like everywhere I turn somebody is discussing New York 4-piece, Battles and their new full-length entitled Mirrored. And I do mean everybody. Just a few short weeks ago, The New York Times had a feature on Battles and their one-of-a-kind sound. This past weekend, Battles' video for Mirrored's first single, 'Atlas', was added to (MTV's only decent show) Subterranean's playlist. Last month, an interview with Battles was featured as the cover piece for XLR8R magazine. 'Atlas' was also just recently selected as NME's 'single of the week'. This is all in addition to a bevy of blog love.
Mirrored gets its international release today, and has already garnered rave reviews from critics ranging from The Guardian, Bitchfork & Contact Music, alike. For the record, The Music Slut adores it as well.
Take a listen to Mirrored's first track, 'Race In', below. Next big thing? Battles will be touring all around Europe & North America over the next few months. Check out all those dates here on the band's MySpace page.
