Rumor Of The Day: Moz Asks Kristeen Young Back On Tour

An anonymous tipster on M-S reports: *So if anyone has noticed Kristeen Young is playing the Wireless Festival on July 4th with Moz. A friend of mine who speaks with baby Jeff told me that Morrissey has asked them back on tour. Apparently Girl In A Coma has declined any further touring with Moz due to their own headlining trek. If this is true, help us all!*

K. Young Issues Statement, Girl In A Coma = Replacement

Here's the official word: *My band, KRISTEENYOUNG, have been asked to leave the Morrissey tour. Although I have been advised not to respond or issue a statement, my feelings are that I must. We have been asked to leave because of something I said on stage at The Hammerstein, in NYC, this past Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the statement has been perceived as being profane (when, actually, one of the two words in question is a scientific term found in junior high, health class text books, and the other word, I feel most would agree, is lightweight slang) or defamatory. What I said was part of a thread of stage statements I made throughout our set. They were metaphorical and overstated to make an artistic point. The “offending” statement, in particular, was in no way a literal statement, and was very much in keeping with the tone of my writing in general. I reach for beauty and intelligence in my lyrics, but try to retain a bit of the everyday in them. Maybe the statement was a bit TOO everyday. Maybe I misjudged… but I meant no harm. I love Morrissey with all of my heart, soul, body, spirit, to the core of my existence and always will. These will be the only words I will ever write or speak on the subject ever again. Please don’t ask for an interview or e-mail me with questions.

Kristeen Young Fired From Morrissey Tour

Hallelujah! MS has the news: *Kristeen Young has been fired from the tour. As soon as her set was over on Tuesday night, she was met in her dressing room by the tour manager, who informed her she would not be included on the rest of the dates. She has an appointment to pick up her belongings on Friday. She will be touring briefly with Ted Leo and The Pharmacists this November.*

She was so rude/vulgar towards the crowd on Tuesday.

Morrissey @ The Mann Center: Now My Heart Is Full

The lengths I travel for Morrissey. Literally! When Moz postponed, and ultimately canceled, his only NYC appearance (in three years) at Madison Square Garden, I was left with two options. I could either sulk about the missed opportunity, or I could hop skip and jump to the next closest city to check out one of the final dates on his self-proclaimed 'Greatest Hits' tour. I chose the latter. Last night's epic show in Philly was everything I had dreamed for it to be, and more.

After a brief a capella intro, Mozzer commenced with Smiths classic, 'The Queen Is Dead'. Dressed in all black, Morrissey's cunning stares, inimitable mic cord twirling, and most importantly - his vocal delivery - were all dead on. The energy in the air was instant and contagious throughout the course of the ninety-five minute mega-set.

Performing tracks from various points of his expansive career, fans were just as responsive to brand new tunes such as 'I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris' & 'All You Need Is Me', as they were to landmark singles, in the form of 'Girlfriend In A Coma' and the main set-closing, 'How Soon Is Now?'. One of my personal highlights was witnessing an incendiary and electrifying version of You Are The Quarry's 'Irish Blood, English Heart'. All in all, from start to finish, this show was spectacular.

Morrissey's concluding gig of his 2007 US tour will take place tonight at The Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey. View the complete setlist from The Mann Center below.

In spite of a parade of negative comments on myriad Morrissey-related message boards, I was quite impressed with Kristeen's performance. The Harsh Truth Of The Camera Eye

Is it me or is Moz starting to resemble Mr. Rogers?

Good friend and tour partner, Kristeen Young, describes her fervor for Mozzer to The Guardian: "I am passionately in love with Morrissey. I grew up listening to his music, so part of what I am is formed by him. The first time I heard the Smiths I was 14 and my boyfriend played me Hatful Of Hollow. I lived in the Midwest, I had no brothers or sisters, and the radio only played the mainstream. This was something different. I played that album over and over again.

How we actually met was very cinematic. The great producer Tony Visconti had heard my music, and asked to produce our new record. One day when Tony was testing out our video on a big screen, a voice behind him said, "Who's that? She's very good." It was Morrissey. When his opening band pulled out of his Ringleader Of The Tormentors tour in April 2006, he asked us to fill in. We've opened for him at every gig since. The whole thing is unreal. This man, who I think is the greatest lyricist that ever existed and who I've worshipped since I was a teenager, is now my friend. And he's a good friend. He's extremely generous and accommodating. He's given us all these gigs, even though we're an unsigned band.

When we got together for the Guardian photo shoot, Morrissey asked me to sit on his shoulders. At first I thought he was joking, but he really wanted me to. I thought, "This is bizarre!" So there I am, literally heaving with desire for him and suddenly his head is between my thighs. We'd certainly never been that close before."
