To write an entry explaining why Ticketmaster is flagrantly hideous would be unnecessary. The whole world knows it. Between the insane service fees, delivery fees, the ticket 'auctions', declarations that an event is sold out (when it in fact is not)... I can go on and on (you can list more in the comments if you'd like). One new problem I've found, may just take the cake!
According to all printed media, M. Ward's web site and Town Hall's box office, M. Ward tickets for his 1/26 Town Hall show were to go on sale tomorrow, 12/15. Well, that didn't happen. I'm lucky I stumbled upon a post on Brooklyn Vegan earlier this week and grabbed a pair of tickets for the show before the good seats were all gone. Yes, Ticketbastard decided 1pm Tuesday is the new Friday @ noon. Frustrating, huh? I recall a similar situation a few months ago when Arctic Monkeys/We Are Scientists tickets (for the Roseland show) went on sale randomly and way before their declared on-sale date. The show actually SOLD OUT BEFORE the official ticket release date.
If you are just finding out about the pre-released M. Ward tickets by reading this post, don't fret too hard. The show is not sold out yet, but the best orchestra seats are row T, that or you can sit in the balcony at row E.
I guess all there is to do is bitch, because regretfully, what power do we really have over the ticket giant?
