Camera Obscura @ Black Cat, 7/9: Scottish Gals Get Into The Groove

With support coming from local faves Georgie James (the band includes the former Q And Not U drummer), Camera Obscura played to a nearly packed house Sunday night at The Black Cat.

Highlighting almost all of their latest and greatest Let's Get Out Of This Country, the Scots got everybody's booties a-shakin' (yes, a-shakin!). Even the 6 foot 4 and 6 foot 7 guy in front of my posse! What the hell man? Stand in the back!

'Lloyd' and set-opener 'Come Back Margaret' were high points of the show for yours truly. Perhaps the fact that they are my most enjoyed tracks on the LP might have something to do with that.

All in all, I hate to label them as this... but I can't help it. For me it was very Delgados meets B&S (who apparently were brilliant at Merriweather on Friday night with BSS and Ted Leo, true?). This isn't a bad thing necessarily, just a little predicable. I guess it's in the Scottish blood. Of course, what kind of review would this be without the obligatory setlist:
