It's nice to know that the love is mutual.
At Ease Web reports: *Jonny Greenwood has won another award for the ‘There Will Be Blood’ soundtrack at the Evening Standard Film Awards. The success of the film came unexpected for Jonny: “It’s quite a surprise, cause it’s a very tough film, in a good way”. Although he was not too disappointed about missing out on the Academy Awards: “It’s funny. As you get temped by that kind of thing, you start thinking they’re important. Two months ago you didn’t care at all. It’s interesting, they suck you in a little bit, but I’m happy the film is being recognized.”*
The Radiohead genius strikes again! At Ease Web reports: *Jonny Greenwood has scored the music for the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson’s movie ‘There Will Be Blood’. The movie will be out in theatres on December 26th 2007. Director P.T. Anderson is known as a Radiohead fan. And years ago (Los Angeles, 2002) Radiohead attended a private screening of Anderson’s last film ‘Punch Drunk Love’. Who knows if the collaboration already started there. Anderson recommended the Bodysong documentary, which also featured Jonny Greenwood’s score: “I remember seeing Bodysong and feeling like I was in a trance. A wonderful collection of the two simple things a film has to work with: pictures and music.”*
The rumors were true! Here's more info on what to expect, as lifted from At Ease Web: *The Wordless Music Series has announced preliminary details of its 2007-08 season, which will include the much-anticipated U.S. premiere of Jonny Greenwood’s Popcorn Superhet Receiver for string orchestra, which will take place at St. Paul the Apostle in New York City on January 16 and 17, 2008.
Hmm. We just got a tip (thanks Jason!) that Jonny Greenwood (of Radiohead) will be performing this autumn in association with The Wordless Music Series here in NY.
This is really out of control already. As you could imagine, the following statement completely disgusts me:
A few weeks ago, we hinted that Jonny Greenwood, Radiohead extraordinaire, would be releasing a compilation of his favorite reggae tunes. This is his second venture into solo experimentation. A few years back, he released the brilliant instrumental soundtrack to Bodysong. Well, 'the reggae album' will be out in approximately a month (3/6) but we got a first taste this week and let us be the first to say, good job Jonny!
Yup, believe it! Jonny from Radiohead is on a reggae mission: Jonny Greenwood indulges his passion for reggae music by compiling his favorite tracks onto one album, Jonny Greenwood is the Controller. Coming out on March 6th, 2007, this one of a kind collection digs deep into rich Jamaican sounds and styles covering soul, roots and dub.
