The Long Blondes Call It A Day

What a bummer! Here's the official statement from Dorian Cox (guitarist): *We have decided to call it a day. The main reason for this is that I suffered from a stroke in June and unfortunately I don't know when or if I will be well enough to play guitar again. On behalf of the band, I'd like to say thank you to anyone who ever came to one of our shows, bought one of our records or danced to 1 of our songs.*

Junior Senior Calls It A Day

This is so unbelievably upsetting! Today's official statement is as follows: *This is Jesper (Jr) and Jeppe (Sr) speaking. We have decided in much peace and prosperity to put Junior Senior to rest and focus 100% on making music on our own, as we have been doing for the last year, Jesper Jr. through I Scream Ice Cream - and now The Little Sisters - and Jeppe Sr. as Jeppe. We know it would have been a much juicier story if we hated each other and we split over big egos or something. We even thought of making a fake YouTube video of us getting into a fight at a late night party over whether we should call the next album "Jumping Jack Junior" or "Senior Says". But we don't promote violence, kids. Just peace and good vibes alright. We have met so many amazing people around the world, experienced so many cool things, had so many crazy good times, so many we never even dared dream of. We are so happy we made you dance... We are forever and ever ever grateful and a thank u would never be enough. YOU made us so happy. Big Kisses & Never Ending Thank Us. Jesper & Jeppe* Visit Junior Senior on MySpace. MP3 at bottom.

Georgie James Calls It A Day

It's with great sadness that we pass along this official statement: *After 3 years, Georgie James is calling it a day. We're proud of the album we made and everything else that we were able to do during our time together. We are both working on our respective solo projects and hope to have albums out early next year. Thanks to everyone that helped our band over these past few years. Thanks to those who've listened to the music & come out to the shows. It's greatly appreciated. See you around soon.* Read my review of Georgie James @ SXSW 2008 here.

BRMC Loses Drummer, Becomes Two Piece

The band explains via MySpace bulletin: *It's true, Nick wont be joining us for the upcoming European tour, but it's not true that he is fired. We just feel Nick needs time to sort out exactly what he wants right now. His heart and all his energy and attention is on his own solo project and he needs to see that through. We welcome his singing and songwriting in BRMC, but his focus, at least at the present time, is on doing his own thing and we wish him the best. He is our brother, our musical partner & we love him dearly & look forward to playing with him again in the future. Rob & Pete.*

Shearwater Frontman Leaves Okkervil River

Here's the official statement: *Jonathan Meiburg, frontman for Shearwater, has announced that he is leaving Okkervil River to focus exclusively on Shearwater. Meiburg says the split is "completely amicable", and that Shearwater has grown to the point that it excludes his further participation in Okkervil. "This is just a logical extension of the way things have been going since Palo Santo", Meiburg adds. "Shearwater's increasingly demanding schedule has meant that I've performed with Okkervil less and less over the past two years, and with Rook coming out in June, we all felt that it would be best if I completely disengaged from Okkervil rather than stretch myself too thin."* MP3 at bottom.

Gang Of Four Loses Two Members

Gang Of Two? Dave Allen (bass) & Hugo Burnham (drums) are out of the band as of today. Allen has just released the following statement: *At the beginning of April, I decided that I could no longer continue to be a member of Gang Of Four. My ability to give 100% to the band is limited and I feel that if I can't do so, then I shouldn't continue.*

CSS Parts Ways With Bassist

The band will solider one as a 5-piece. Ira Trevisan declares: *I decided to move forward & dedicate more of my time to fashion & other projects. Just a big change of priorities, as I'll never stop playing music. I'm also a bit worried about climate change. People should care more & do something about it. I decided to fly less!*

The Hourly Radio Parts Ways With Guitarist, New LP By Summer

The band explains via MySpace: *Ryan is leaving The Hourly Radio. As tough as this news is for the band, we wish him well as he makes this difficult transition. Without Ryan, this band would never have played a show. His knack for organization, eye for design and abilities as a musician transformed us into the band we are today. As for the remaining three members, we are committed to seeing Ryan's vision through to the end. There is more music in us. Over the last month we have been rehearsing and writing new material, gearing up to return to the studio. I'm excited to see how far we've come and how our sound is maturing. Expect to see a record from us this summer!* Learn more about THR here.

Silverchair Frontman & Natalie Imbruglia Call It Quits

This one's for our Aussie readers stuck in 1996. The official press release states: *"While we are very sad that our marriage has ended we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends. This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly. However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us. We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together. We have issued this statement to set the record straight and to eliminate any need for speculation."* Read more on the couple's split here.

Bonde Do Role's Marina Leaves Band

What a bummer! Here's the official word: *"Due to several internal problems between us, we had to cancel a lot of our shows from the European tour, and we also had to cancel the scheduled Australian tour (everyone knew how excited we were about it!). For that we're really really sorry. And we also announce that Marina is no longer with us, due to these internal problems. We wish her all the best in whatever she decides to do with her future, and she can always count on us as friends. We are working these issues out right now as we speak, and we hope we can make it up to everyone who we let down this year, in the most awesome way we can!"*

Post #4000: Avenue D Plays Final Brooklyn Gig!

It's a sad day for sluts across the globe. Following news that the mischievous pair will be calling it quits before the new year, Avenue D performed their final NYC show on Saturday night at Area 51. Unfortunately, we missed the (seemingly incredible) gig but our dear friend Abbey B @ 'Sup Mag caught the shenanigans and managed to capture a (NSFW) video of the band delivering their signature tune - 'Do I Look Like A Slut?'. ENJOY!
